Root Galaxy Note 3 LTE
Yesterday I showed you how manually update the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE device with the latest Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 OTA Update firmware and, now, I will show you how to root it during this step by step instructional guide.
Prerequisites:
  • This step by step rooting tutorial is exclusively for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE device model number N9005. Do not use this article and the files listed here for any other incorrect device you can easily brick it.
  • Disable all security programs from your computer, programs such as antivirus, firewall, or antimalware programs. This kind of software can interfere with the root process and can interrupt the same.
  • Disable or uninstall the KIES program before starting the rooting process.
  • Download and install the Samsung USB drivers for your Galaxy Note 3 LTE device from here.
  • Ensure that the USB Debugging mode from Developer Options menu is enabled. If the Developer Options menu isn’t listed, then go to About Phone menu, open this section and then tap seven times on the “build number” section.

How to root Android 4.3 XXUDMJ7 Jelly Bean for Galaxy Note 3 LTE N9005:

  1. First download the CF Auto Root zip file from here and save it to the PC.
  2. Now, extract the downloaded contents of the zip file and save its content on your PC’s desktop folder.
  3. Next, download the ODIN 3 v3.07 from here, save it in your PC and extract the zip files on your computer.
  4. Turn off the smartphone.
  5. Boot the Note 3 LTE device into Download Mode, to do this press and keep holding the Volume Down, Home simultaneous and release all the buttons when a Warning! Message will be displayed, then press the Volume Up button to load the Download Mode Menu.
  6. Now, open the folder where you extracted the ODIN zip file and launch the Odin v3.07. exe file on your computer.
  7. Next, connect the Galaxy Note 3 LTE device with your PC using the USB cable.
  8. If the ODIN application doesn’t recognize the Note 3 device then you need to reinstall the USB drivers once again to your PC, and then repeat the entire step by step root procedure from beginning.
  9. Now, in ODIN application click the PDA button and then browse your computer contents for the CF-Auto-Root tar.md5 file.
  10. Load the CF-Auto-Root tar.md5 file in ODIN application.
  11. Make sure that the Re-Partition option is disabled and do not make any other default settings to ODIN.
  12. Next, click START button from ODIN to start the rooting process.
  13. When the root process is done, ODIN software will say ‘PASS’ message and then the Galaxy Note 3 LTE device will get an automatically reboot in normal mode.
  14. Now, disconnect the smartphone from computer by removing the USB cable when the device will display the Samsung boot animation logo.
  15. When the device will enter for the first time into normal mode you can take control over your smartphone.
Troubleshooting:
If the ODIN application doesn’t complete the root process, the Galaxy Note 3 LTE enters into a boot loop or you’ll receive any other issues, the you have to:
  • Close the ODIN application
  • Disconnect the smartphone from PC.
  • Remove the smartphone’s battery
  • Reinsert the battery back into its place after five seconds.
  • Repeat the entire step by step rooting guide once again from the start.
If the ODIN application says that the root process is completely done, but the smartphone doesn’t pass the Samsung boot animation, then you need to apply a forced factory Reset. This action will wipe all content and data from the system partition, but it will force the device to boot into normal mode.
How to apply the Factory Reset for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE model number N9005:
  • First, remove the device’s battery for seven second.
  • Now, insert the device’s battery into its place.
  • Boot the device into stock Recovery Mode (Press and keep holding the Volume UP, Home and Power buttons simultaneous and release the buttons when the stock Recovery screen will be displayed.
  • From the Recovery Mode Menu select the “wipe data/factory reset” and confirm.
  • When the wipe data and factory reset are complete select “reboot system now” option.

  1. Rooting with cf-auto root also flags Knox to 0x1 which voids warranty in most countries. You have failed to mention this.
